Steel Bars

A Closer Look

Steel Bars

Corton's smart design allows the bars to be set into the frames as opposed to merely welded on, improving safety, durability and looks.

Benefits of The Corton Design

Corton’s unique frame profile design allows the bars to run through holes that are punched into the frame, as opposed to just being welded on in between. The main reason Corton chooses to build their frames using this method, which requires more labor and material, is for the safety of your horse. Steel bars that are merely welded on in between the frame have a much higher likelihood of breaking at the welding points and your horse kicking through them, getting a leg stuck and causing major injury. A nice side effect of the design: Corton’s welding is hidden on the inside of the U-shaped steel frame holding the wood boards, which makes for a much cleaner and more refined look of the horse stalls compared to unsightly 360 degree welds around the bars. At the top of the frame, only minimal welding on the outside is necessary, again making for a cleaner look.

Measurements

The bars in Corton steel frames have a diameter of 22 mm (0.87 in) and a wall thickness of 2 mm (0.079 in) and have a high flexural strength. They are set closely together at about 53 mm (2.09 in) of distance between the bars for your horses safety.
